Default Horrible Grinding Noise when ignition turned off?!

Hi fellow Volvo owners!

I own a 2011 plate XC70 SE D5 AWD Auto which has just passed 120k miles. Today she has started to make a horrible grinding/rattling noise from the high pressure fuel pump area of the engine bay when I switch it off. It lasts for about 10seconds and sounds mechanical. Car starts fine, no noises while it’s running (other than the usuals). I’m assuming it is in fact the fuel pump but after some searching can’t seem to find any other threads to confirm this.

Has anyone else come across this issue? I have a video and will try to upload it….

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Had a proper look today and the plastic cogs in the throttle body are ripped to pieces.

The swirl flaps motor runs on (resets?) after the engine is turned off, but it seems you have found your problem elsewhere.

Good luck with the repair.
