I'm with Clifford on this one. My car does a lot of 'Track Days' but they are the sort that are covered in snow or through miles of forestry I buy quality (Gislaved) van tyres that have a much higher weight and speed rating that exceeds anything my old bus can do or carry. The flip side of that is that I also drive from Wiltshire to the Northern highlands 4 or 5 times a year and haven't encountered any issues doing all those motorway miles with commercial tyres.

Mine runs on 185/80R 14. Always has done since I bought in 2003. Had Michelins on when bought.

I aqquired a set of Corona Alloys. These came with Michelin Agilas fitted with loads of tread. They are an 8-ply van tyre.
I found them to be far to 'harsh' on bumps and pot holes personally. On 'soft ground' they were hopeless. They may have just been very old, as I think the chap I got them off had them 'stored' for some time....

I replaced them with Hankook Optimo K175's. A summer tyre, and found them good, in both ride and handling. They passed 'they're' last MOT in October last year having covered 40k + miles, I was 'verbally advised' by the tester to replace before winter.

I did just that. My 240 is very much 'car 3' and not covering a great deal of miles now.... Mainly used as a load carrier from the local reclamation yard, lol. I, this time fitted a set of Nankang (same size and all 4) . I got them online from the French side of the Oponeo webshop. They weren't the cheapest, but not the most costly by far either. That said, so far I've not had any problems at all with them. They are 'quiet' comfortable ride and no complaints with grip so far.......

I've finally decided to go for 185/80 R14 91T with a trade name of Falken on them. They are classed as a car tyre instead of a commercial tyre.

I've got them through Blackcircle tyres and have opted for fully fitted.

Thanks for all your info and guidance on this.

Everyday is a school day here
