Now those would be perfect for show-use only!
Even if you had the correct black & silver plates underneath! Subtle bit of hidden in open view camoflage so if any nefarious characters are trawling the shows looking for a car to steal, when they try getting the address by an underhand search, it will yield zero results for your car.

Did i imagine things or did you say at one point you might be interested in an Amazon Alan? This one while apparently is on the south coast is likely to be in Bedford sometime soon according to the post :
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=320272 Maybe worth a look if you're still thinking of an Amazon?

Glad i remembered correctly Alan! Looks like quite a nice car, bit confused as to why it has the B18D engine instead of the B18B, maybe the seller can enlighten you on that one?
FWIW, i was always under the impression the B18D was a low compression unit for the USA but i might be wrong, either way i don't think it was an option here as we had good ol' 4 star back then.

That Amazon really does look an impressive car for the money.

Don't say that Juular! I was going to try to buy it for a bit less!!!!!
... more seriously, I've established communications with the seller and will have a look at the car when it returns to Bedford (assuming it is still for sale). I'm in no desperate rush, but I quite like the idea of an Amazon. Alan

Fuel Consumption
I took the RB to the Black Country Living Museum (an excellent day out) on Sunday - it must have been 150 miles return trip. I've just put a splash of E10 in (no queues whatsoever at the Asda station I was passing anyway, gas and diesel both available, normal prices - what is everyone moaning about). I only bought £25 worth (I suppose about 4 1/2 gallons) and it has brought the needle up to where it was prior to the trip.
Now, this was far from a scientific experiment (about 150 miles, about 4 1/2 gallons, needle more or less where it was), but that aside it looks like the RB managed better than 30 MPG, which I think is excellent. I put this down to sticking to the A5 rather than the motorways and thus keeping the speed at 50-60 MPH (which is where the RB feels comfortable anyway). I'm really happy with that outcome :-)

It was a very good day out!
Did you watch the demonstration on the gasses in the mines? The information they had about that part of the job was fascinating. |
