Default How Bad are the Issues with 2010 XC90s?

Hi All

New to the group!

I’m looking to order a new XC90 Executive D5 Geartronic in the next few weeks.

I’ve owned an S60 in the past and currently own a S40 which both provided trouble free motoring apart from the odd warrantee repair which you can get with any make of car.

As I read through everyone’s troubles and woes on this forum with their XC90s, I really am starting to question my choice in going for this vehicle.

Is the XC90 really a bad choice or are the problems primarily associated with the older models? Are the 2010 models sorted of most of the issues reported here?

The other big question is whether there is likely to be a new XC90 released shortly after I take ownership of mine. It’s sods law that this happens…!

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi - It seems like XC90 orders are closed right now (in line with XC60 ) - waiting for MY2011 spec / prices according to dealdrivers.com. That seems crazy to me given we are just 8 weeks into 2010, but maybe that's par for the course with cars now ?

In terms of issues I think most look to affect older cars (e.g loss of AWD) - some people with early MY2010 had issues with rattles, but doesn't seem to affect later MY2010 cars.

What I would say is XC90 is showing it's age now - but it's still in demand and new prices (from drive the deal / dealdrivers and many others) help that, but I don't understand why Volvo haven't done more to tweak it if they are going to run it for a few more years - for example the speedo area of the dash is ancient but could easily be updated in line with XC60 / C30 etc and the range of options could be updated / expanded.

Does this mean that a dealer will not take an order for a new XC90 at the moment?

Do you have any idea when this new MY2011 spec for the XC90 is likely to surface? I would hate to order a 2010 spec car, only to find that if I waited a few weeks/months I could have ordered a 2011 spec!

Thanks;

Im in the same boat with ordering an XC60, the info I have been given is that they are opening orders again (at least for the XC60) on 12/3 for MY11 for delivery in June.

Cheers

Regarding dealer discounts, do you know if dealers are currently honouring the same discount levels being offered by people like ‘Drive The Deal’.

Drive The Deal are offering almost 27% off a brand new factory ordered XC90 D5 Executive!!

Biggest issue for me has been the rattling dash which I think at least half a dozen people on here have also had. Mine was an Oct 09 build. It doesn't sound like a major problem but trust me if you have had it then you will now how irritating it gets!

As far as I am aware the rattling dash, if it occurs, is now a known fix for dealers, so shouldn't pose a big problem.
