1999 V70 - Front foglamp Bulb
Guys, need some help.
MOT is due tomorrow - doing the checks I found the front offside foglamp is out, which was working fine a few weeks ago. I've been searching for info on the replacement bulb type, but every search I've done either just displays headlamp bulbs, for later cars or complete replacement fog lamps. Can anyone give me the specs for a replacement bulb please. Its a P1 V70 - 1999 - 2.5 10v non turbo if that helps ? I can then pop down to Halfords and swap it over before taking the car in for its test

Afternoon , in reply to your question , front fogs are H1 bulbs .
However for the purposes of an MOT , you are not required for them to be working ( i'm an MOT tester ) . IF they are working it makes us grumpy types happy

Thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression that if they were fitted they needed to be functional otherwise it would be a fail. Anyway, I popped out and picked up a twin pack and now have working front fogs
Fingers crossed the car passes with the same list of advisories as previous years...

Given the many potential fail points on a (relatively) modern car, would that all faults - whether or not they may result in a 'fail' - were as easily fixed. Regards, John.

I think this is where my confusion lay. This is from the gov.uk website on MOT test requirements https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-insp...ical-equipment

[QUOTE=john.wigley;2796017]I thought that was the case, 'dingov70', but didn't respond as I wasn't certain and lack your qualification. I do recall however that when I bought my V70 in 2016, the then current MOT, issued Dec. '15, had 'n/s/f fog light out' listed as the sole advisory. You didn't happen to inspect my car by any chance, did you ... ?
Unlikely , unless you popped into Blackpool specially for my attentions . But I have had the pleasure of meeting a couple of members after testing their cars
