Default Indicators / hazards problem

Bit of a weird issue on the way to work this morning with the indicators. For reference it's a 2005 v70 d5.

Everything was fine first thing, then I noticed at one point my left indicator was on - solid, not flashing. The indicator wasn't switched on.

I dipped the clutch, cycled the ignition, restarted, and it went out. All good, until I indicated to leave the motorway and got nothing...

Bottom line is I've had to disconnect the battery while the car is parked at work as the left indicator came back on solid and wouldn't go out - even with the ignition off.

So, no indicators, no hazard lights either.

Any ideas?

A problem with the CEM I would say , possible water ingress?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm at a loss right now as to what it could be.
Very busy weekend at work for me so I won't really be able to start investigating until Monday.

It's been a while since I removed a cem, hopefully it's not too complex and I'll take a look.

The update after connecting the battery back up after its 12hr break is that everything is working fine again....

We'll see if it stays 'fixed', time will tell.....

Moisture in the CEM can exhibit itself in any number of bizarre issues - wipers going mad etc.

Agreed. My money is on a CEM issue for this, as the indicators are controlled 100% within the CEM (flash timing, bulb fail detection, physical switching, and listening to the indicator stalk input etc...)

Not much to report, but I removed the scuttle panel to take a look at the cem connectors today.

Everything looked OK, no obvious signs of water ingress or corrosion, but I used a bit of contact cleaner and worked the plugs a bit to try and ensure a good connection.

An interesting little job, always something to learn, and I hope my flashers will continue to flash only when required....
