So by the AA's logic if you fit a really big beefy anti theft lock on your steering wheel they would charge you extra because theyd have to pay out for that too in the event of a theft? Or an alarm. Or a tracker.

I am happy to be wrong, but it is perhaps due to it being a fresh quote on the system that is causing the increase. If you were to get a fresh quote on the Inscription, you might have found it would have also gone up £83.
Use a comparison checker anyway - always someone else that'll be cheaper. Go back to them and they might reduce once they know you can get it cheaper elsewhere anyway.
