Default ETM Again

Hi
Just joined today to let you know that my ETM failed two days ago whilst overtaking a Lorry on the A1 at about 65mph. Very disconcerting and alarming particularly as the car then 'went crazy' reving between 2000 and 4000rpm without me in it!

It's a 01 with 58k on the clock and I picked it up from the dealer last night following the repair. Sadly it does still not appear to be running correctly as it 'sticks' at around 1400 to 1500 revs sometimes increases slightly and then drops to it's idle speed.

Contacted the garage this morning who said that they have done all that is required under the Volvo upgrade but that it may require a completely new unit which is not covered.

Will I too be looking at a small claims action?

This is my fifth Volvo an feel that this situation IS dangerous. Thank heavens for my reliable 740 now at 180,000miles and still going strong.

You may want to speak to Volvo UK Customer support, but yes, should they require you to pay money for a replacement unit, even with x% discount it should be County Court time..
Remember to include Volvo UK (The official importer) in the action.
The more of these where Volvo UK is included in the action, the sooner they are likely to admit there could be a problem and forcing a different methodology of dealing with issues in the UK..

Des. . .
