Default Airbag module 30613048 A

I'm after an airbag module for my 2002 V40.

Part no. 30613048 A
Volvo - Barcode 021080293Q

I've already got one from ebay but it doesn't work, assume its because the barcode didn't match.

A very long shot I know, but if there is there anybody out there with one with that code I'll snap it up!

Cheers.

The airbag module on the Phase 2 S/V40s is indeed 30613048 A. The Temic and Volvo barcodes underneath are unique to each module and I guess they are there in case the was a faulty batch. Having barcodes, would make a recall easier.

Either your ebay unit is faulty too, or there is another problem with your SRS system.

What symptoms exactly are you experiencing?

When I start dismantling the Petrol V40 in a couple weeks I'll check if you still don't have one.

Default Bump....

Hi all, forum newbie here, but long term V40 fan [current one since 2008]

My airbag module has been FUBAR for a while; fault codes diagnosed last summer when I had the VVT done [also had been FUBAR for a while, but the rattling finally got to me :-) ]

MOT was due yesterday, so I booked it into local Volvo indie last week to get the SRS sorted out [same place as did VVT etc] only to be told they had got the 'wrong part' and the right one had to be ordered from Sweden.

Called them today to get a delivery update, and was told they now wouldn't be getting the part in for at least three weeks! They refused to source a used part, but would be happy to 'fit and programme' it for me if I bought it....

The part number they gave me was 30613047 [and not xxx48] I found and ordered one on the Bay of Evil this afternoon.

However, curiosity got the better of me, and after joining up on here and a bit of searching, I found Gatos' pictures of how to get to the control module [much appreciated - much easier than I had thought - thanks!]

I've just attacked my centre console with a screwdriver, and there it sits - module 30613048 A

So, any of you guys know the difference between the two parts? I know I'm probably clutching at straws, but is there any chance the 047 module will do the trick...?

Thanks in anticipation.

Iain

PS car is 2004 V40 1.8 auto - not the GDi engine, the other one...

I believe the 47 is mainly for US and Canada ones and the 48 is for everywhere else and not US and Canada.

The differences beyond that don't know I'm afraid.

Only guessing here, but is it possible that the 30613047 is for cars with 1 airbag (Driver's only). 30613048 is definitely for two airnags (driver and passanger. As for programming, it does not need any. It is a simple plug and play. I just hope the one you are getting from ebay is ok, as the last 3-4 weeks, 3 different people bought theirs on ebay only to find out that they were buggered

Oh, and I am not sure why they would need to program it. It is just plug and play. Just make sure you disconnect the battery before you do it.

If worse comes to worse and you get stuck, you can drive down my end and I can give you a hand for free. I also have the diagnostic equipment in case there are any problems
