Smile COVID 19 Service Bonus!

Hi all,

I haven’t posted much of late, my XC60 has been faultless with little need to ask questions however I still like to read the forum and thought I’d share this:

My number 2 service reminder came up and when contacted my dealer quoted approximately £500. But because my odometer is only at 13k miles due to lockdown working from home I could have the significantly cheaper interim service! That may have been some members’ experience with low annual mileage, but I expected a full service. It occurs to me that not all dealers may tell a customer this?

Well done and thanks to TMS Hinkley.

Got my 7th service for £179 a few weeks ago after mentioning that I've not used the car so much over the last year. Coincidentally exactly the same price as the service on my ride-on mower! https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showp...2&postcount=38

Volvo call this an "essential service" I believe.

Had a service at the beginning of February. Only 3000 miles in 12 months 😱. It was suggested that an interim service would be appropriate. Oh no I said. Do the full one. Service MOT and 2 tyres later....£950.00! Peace of mind or piece of mind. I shan't say what the wife said. Frosty inside! 😅😅

Thing is, I did end up getting the full service...

The " VOLVO ESSENTIAL SERVICE" has been available or many years...

Thanks for this. Never heard of an "essential service" locally, but will enquire.

My previous (warranty) service was due at 13k km instead of the usual 20k, also due to the traveling restrictions of Covid-19.

You can extend the interval from 12 to 13 months and still retain the warranty though, which I did to accumulate an additional 1000km.

Technically, it did not matter, as the full service was free anyway. But I did claw back one month of my warranty expiry date.

You know, that clause which states "whichever comes first" :-).

As you are not in UK you probably have other types of servicing to suit your local conditions ..

Here in the UK, the "essential service" is basically just an oil & oil filter change - A "minor" service in effect.

They do a health check of the car too (included in the price).

That's exactly what they told me I was getting, along with the breakdown cover. But I also got the software updates and fluid top-ups.
