Brake wobble
Hi, had my 61 r design for a good couple of years now. When I first got it I had the wishbones changed as it snatched to one side when braking. It was much better but then had a light wobble through the steering wheel when braking. Eventually I changed the front discs and the wobble disappeared. It's now come back. All the wishbone bushes are perfect so I'm thinking something is warping the discs. The discs look like new still but it's hard to check for run out. I'm thinking of changing the calipers and discs (again). The symptoms are that it brakes normally and in a straight line but feel vibration through the steering wheel and a definite wobble. It's fine otherwise and no issues with balancing at motorway suppers etc. It's done 150k. Any thoughts most helpful. Thanks Jed

A common issues on the Mk1 XC90 often caused by :
- Keeping your foot on the brake when stationary at junctions after slowing from speed (rather than selecting P or N taking foot off). - Poor quality aftermarket parts - Lack of regular use and brake disc corrosion, even if minor I'd get the discs skimmed and see if it happens again. If you have a friendly local garage, the wobble should show up on the brake rollers if it's the discs. This may help - https://apecautomotive.co.uk/techmat...ntative-steps/

The later was the main cause of brake vibration on the XC90 .

Another interesting vid...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3JUPt4upxk Disc Thickness Variation (DTV) can be caused by sitting with your foot on the brake at junctions and minor corrosion - we normally expect minor corrosion to naturally come off with use but where there is no or less corrosion behind the pad surface, this causes uneven wear. For whatever reason, the 2.2t Mk1 XC90 is susceptible to both of the above.
