Question V. Sick V70xc - Repair/Sell as, is or part out?

Hi, my poor old 1998 V70xc ( 230k - ish), is currently up on the ramps with two blown exhaust valves - head now in bits in boot! Other known defects leaking rear main seal, centre propshaft bearing carrier rotted (bearing ok), handbrake cable snapped. The interior is also very dirty with a few nicks to the upholstery as I use the car to carry my tools as a gardener. Exterior body work very good. The question is what should I do next.

1. Sell to the mechanic to cover my bill so far - and not much more. He says he will not be repairing the car, but would break for parts.

2. Repair the head and bearing carrier and live with the oil leak for now.

3. Find a lower mileage engine and swap + replace bearing carrier.

4. Break car for parts myself, and sell what's left to the scrap dealer.

I would much rather the car was repaired, but even with values beginning to rise, I'm not sure it makes economic sense. I have to make a decision regarding option 1. by tomorrow morning as the garage wants the car removed asap!!

This alone would cost me another £50. on top of the £440 bill I already have.

Input from other forum users would be appreciated.

Thanks Andrea.
