Just an idea...a late-model (1997, 1998) B230FK is highly unlikely to need a rebuild, and with a cam swap and a suitably sized turbo will make essentially the same power as an ET. The ET has the 'desirable' 531 cylinder head...but there's barely any advantage until you start working on the head. The ET is also highly likely to have the weaker con-rods.
cheers James

Indeed, I have, wont need rebuilding either. Can't help with the loom though.
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?p=586916 I believe my work will be sending me up Scotland way at some point in January, dunno if the engine will fit in the back of my company car (Mondeo) though |

Easily. It might be worth splitting the head and block though. Is there a hoist at each end? The blocks aren't light. It's quite a lift even for two people, especially if the boot has a lip you need to lift it over.
It's also worth mentioning that I wouldn't use the original Motronic system...1980s fuel injection technology (with no knock detection, for example) deserves to stay in the 1980s! I'd use the LH-Jet 2.4 system (ECUs from a 940 turbo, loom from a late 240), which is pretty much as good as 'modern' EFI. cheers James
