Default 850R Front suspension

Hi
Can anyone recommend a supplier of suspension parts fro my 1996 850R. I need front springs, front top mounts and shock absorbers. I have been getting costs through Volvo (quite pricy, not surprisingly) but wondered if there are alternative original Volvo parts suppliers, or recommended aftermarket products available?

Thanks, Howard

Hi HJMiller, you can try PFS - https://www.partsforvolvosonline.com...d33d9862727ff7

Best to stick to OEM parts if you can, but not always the case for all the parts. I'm sure other more knowledgable members will have their recommendations too.

Another vote for PFV online - that's the route I'd be going down.

That's a very good website... handy to know. Thanks for sharing.

I did notice though that some parts like control arms for example say "aftermarket supplied replacement part", but they don't tell you what brand it is?

Has anyone ordered heavy items like shock absorbers from this website? I imagine postage isn't cheap.

I bought two rear springs for my V70 from PFS last August and the post and packing for the basic delivery service was a tenner. The same for a couple of delta link bushes bought earlier in the year too. I didn't think this was too bad.

That’s reasonable.

Thanks all, I am now in communication with PFS, although they look as though they only have kits for Saloons, but Im asking if that is the case.
Cheers Howard

I've had many orders from PFS Parts over the years. They're in Northampton if I'm not mistaken. Great company with extremely helpful staff, Jamie springs to mind who went above and beyond with one particular order. Quick delivery too but Brexit put a spanner in the spokes for those of us outside the UK.

With suspension components try go for genuine if at all possible, especially with rubber mounts, and as the R sits slightly lower you may wish to maintain the original stance so fit the correct springs. There is also an upgraded front top mount that is fitted to the XC90 up until 2014.

Try calling FRF Motors, Swansea for a price and quote "C3" to avail of club/forum discount. Take a picture of VIN plate in advance, it's located next to battery, as it has the code for the type of suspension fitted at time of manufacture.

Still compiling parts and trying to stick to OEM parts. But the Id like to compare prices particularly for the shocks. Bilstein supplied me with two part numbers
and I wonder if anyone knows which is best for the suspension set up on my 850R?
They are: B4, 22-230959
and: B6, 22-235336

But I would prefer original parts, if I can afford them!

When you say you've been getting prices from 'Volvo' do you mean your local dealer? If so, try FRF Volvo in Swansea - they give us (VOC members) a good discount and can often be cheaper than pattern parts!
