Default LED.s and Centre Caps

I,m after info on fitting Led,s to the dash, in particular around the heater controls. Ive tried some led,s but the result is poor due i think to the angle that led,s give off light. This gives me a dim dash.
Secondly, i,m after some better wheel centres, prefering the new type, but i cant find any, i think the X40,s being smaller than most.

Default LED.s

Hi Packman
I had a problem with all the bulbs out on the heater controls and light controls on my 2003 S40,as the genuine Volvo are very expensive I opted for leds off Ebay..... T4 Neo Wedge (Red/Green/blue/white) Dash LED Item number: 190606805444 approx £1 each....ok these fit straight into the lights/dimmer/height control board no problem and because of the plastic light distributors within that unit channel the light to look bright and uniform.
Ok the heater/distributor/temp control leds are not so easy or as good. I have tried a couple of leds before buing these 5 x Pre wired 5mm Bright Green LEDs Item number: 360350103859 you need to strip off the outer sheath and cut down to fit you existing Volvo bulb holders, remove the originals and fit the leds, it's a bit fiddly but not difficult..........as you say in your question also with these the light angle isnt as the original mine are brighter at the base of the switch than the top of it but hey what a saving!!!!!
See pics of my first attempt with blue leds (now green)

Hi m0eeb

Do you have a photo of the A/C panel, with the cover fitted, at night?

This would give a true depiction of the outcome.

Can you not use the T4 type straight in around the heater controls. I do not have the bubs, they were missing.

Hi Packman
You can use the long T4s "as is" Item number: 190619257606 but the light beam is very straight and will only iluminate part of the switch (see pic) if you want to use them you really need to take out the existing leds and replace them with Item number: 360350103859 also they need a bit of messing to get them into the control board but they do fit. (off ebay)
Ok its a bit of messing but I managed to replace the lot for about £8 as opposed to about £50 from Volvo.........its the principle of the matter for me no way is a little bulb worth £10 even if it were for a Rolls!!!!

LOL, your right on the price of bulbs. Your picture looks like the same effect i,m getting, only ive used high bright orange. No matter how i fit the led,s i cant get decent illumination. I.ll try some of the green type youve used.

Sam

They look uber-cool, mate!

I especially like the instrument cluster.

Is the control panel not tinted green?

Are the LED's that bright, they overcome the tinting?
