Default Driver profile and electric seat memory

Can anyone confirm. I have successfully linked seat position to my wife's own key. However if I drive the car with her key and thus alter the seat position. I would have expected the seat to revert back to her setting next time she unlocks the car. This does not seem to happen.

All I can imagine is that changing the seat position is then remembered by her profile... I did see a profile lock function on the Big Screen, is that the answer?

Yes, you need to lock the profile. Open the car with your wife's key, get the seat set in her position and then lock the profile.

A slight aside, but something some people don't realise: If you get in the car, close the door and then try one of the seat memory position buttons, you have to hold the button until the seat has finished moving. Pressing the memory button with the door still open before you get in does it with one press, rather than a hold.

That's very interesting - I wonder why that is? When I was playing in the dealership I did think it was annoying that you have to keep holding until you reach the end of the set-up.

If you press whilst the door is open, and close the door whilst the seat is still re-adjusting does it stop the process?

Guess its something to do with not wanting to squash the user. If you were 6'6" and pressed the button for you 4'6" wife, you'd want to be able to stop the forward movement pretty quick if you were sat in the seat!

It would easier to each drive with your own key. As you've already established, the key will retain all settings data in use at the time of exiting and locking the car, overriding any previous settings not protected by profile lock.

It's not 100% necessary to do the above.

If she locks the car with her key and you get in then with your key it'll all work fine.

The key, no pun intended, is to always lock the car with the key that opened it. And don't mix up key use

But locking the profile will be sufficient also.
