Hi all,
Just a quick hello, I’m Dale and I’ve just got into the XC90 ownership I’ve a 05 2.4 D5 SE and thus far loving it👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. I’ve done some research and they do seem bulletproof but any advice would be very much appreciated, until later.

They're as bulletproof as the thickness of maintenance armour you give them

No armour and they will fail eventually.
Good armour, regularly applied, and they run forever...
