Sure, so he has the range of options to choose from and so does any future readers of this thread.

The way I did it for the person in my example wouldn't have been my first choice but it did work out absolutely fine and is a legitimate option within the range of possible ways to do this job.

I also changed all seals and o-rings for new but I wouldn't deny your experience of not bothering and reusing them.
We offer our thoughts and experiences and leave it for others to decide for themselves.

Where is the parameter for viewing the gearbox oil temp? I'm in diagnostics and tcm but not sure where from there?

Found it.

Got to 55 c then removed the level plug. Hardly anything came out. Literally a few drops.

Is it worth adding more and repeating the process?

Depends on how bad the original fluid was compared to what it's like now.
If it was decent anyway the improvement is not as stark but if you're in the mood and you've got the fluid, sure.

How much did you add back in? I presume it was the same amount as you drained.

I've seen a few people add just a slight amount more than they drained when putting the fluid back in, say 100/200ml extra (if you have some spare fluid). Then when they release the level plug, you get a dribble as opposed to drops & it gives you chance to see what the condition of the fluid is like a bit better.

You don't have to do this, of course. So long as you've added enough transmission fluid in the first place (matching what you drained), it should be fine.

If you have enough fluid, another drain & fill won't do any harm. You can (if you wish) add a slight amount more than you drain this time around (say 100ml extra or so), reset the level again & reset the fluid counter.

When the fluid is clean, it should be a cherry red colour.

That's exactly what I did. I put another 150ml in and waited for the correct temp and used the level plug. Just short of 150ml came out so at least I know it's at the correct level.

Iv reset the level on vida dice. There was also another option about calibration....is that worth doing?

So you've done two drain & fills now? So long as the level is right, then that's okay.

Did you reset the fluid counter? Its important that you do this & it only takes a few seconds.

I'm not sure what you mean by calibration. Adaptions maybe?

Yes, 2 flushes and a fill. Reset the counter.

Yeh I think it may have been adaption.

I'm going back on vida dice tomorrow to do some fault finding so I will double check then

Yeh it was adaptions.

Options are

Resetting adaption
Resetting the transmission fluid change counter
Calibrating the gear position sensor
Activating gear indication
Control module adaption

Any of them worth doing?
