The chip shortage is likely to go on for another couple of years, it wouldn't surprise me if spa2 is delayed by at least 2 years. |

I agree, but they might also keep the XC90 for a few more years and the replacement will be called something else - Volvo have said they are going to designate the new cars with "names" rather a model descriptor badge.

Had a similar discussion on my car due at beginning of October. They offered to order a new one but warned I wouldnt see it until April 22. Also deal would be less favourable.

Do you not think that perhaps they might launch a full BEV current shape XC90? Supposedly the SPA platform was designed from the start to support full electrification.
Is the promise that they want to sell 50 percent BEV by 2025 or 50 percent BEV/PHEV? If the former then they need to get a shuffle on......

Is there any knowledge of the date from which existing orders will get the larger battery? We ordered a V60 in July...keen to know if we will get the smaller or larger battery. Our dealer isn't exactly forthcoming with updates - presumably because they don't know!

Sorry, I meant order dates rather than build dates. Is it a simple case of orders placed before the announcement get the old battery/motor, orders placed after get the new? I presume it isn't as simple as that, because I imagine there are different lead times for the different models and the battery was announced for all models at the same time.
If I'm in line to get the older battery/motor spec (I ordered in July) then I'd be tempted to cancel and reorder...but cancelling and reordering will mean a longer delay. It would be useful if it was known what order dates will get the new tech. |
