Default 940 Crotch Cooler?

Was about to put the driver’s side under tray back in when I noticed a blank that looks like the perfect position for an A/C crotch cooler. Did the 940 ever come with this feature or was it for something else?

Much as I'd hoped the answer to this question would be no; it appears that it is yes.

Here's one for sale with the vent actually fitted.

The only one I've seen in person was on 50 shades of Grey which is a 1991 GL non A/C, it was a pain in the backside to put back as the pipework kept popping off the back and when trying to fit it once the edge of the plastic was so sharp it sliced my finger open!

If memory serves, this is purely for fresh outside air to be ducted in so isn't fitted to AC cars, my 740S all had it and none of them had AC.

Both of my 740s have the “ballblaster” vent! I was very amused when I figured out what it was. They also have a strange vent down by the right shin area on the wing which can be switched on and off. I dealt with a cold right leg for ages until I figured out how to close it!

The kick panel vent can be confusing until you figure it out, that's for sure! Brings air in from the wheelarch so the faster you go, the harder it blows a gale up your trouser leg!

Fine in summer but when it's -5C outside and you're trying to get warm after a night shift in a freezing cold car, it doesn't help!

Worst is when you leave it shut but accidentally kick it open during getting in/out of the car so next time you drive you suddenly have a windchill of -20C going up your leg!
