What OBD2 scanner
I'm looking to buy a diagnostic scanner to investigate intermittant limp home mode conditions.
I know there are quite a few posts for other models, but can anyone recommend a code reader scanner for a my2006 2.0D E4. There are many on the market but one that seems to be recommended is the PPC scanner on the link below.(http://nordicpartsdirect.co.uk/maile...g/ppcdiag.html) Does anyone have any knowledge of this on V50 range or perhaps another recommendation. Thanks. |

You can't go wrong with a PPC scanner at that price 7050, they're being sold for even more second-hand, when they show up on e-bay that is.
Alternatively, you can wait for This Interesting Gadget to hit the market, it shows you data in real time while driving after hooking it up to the OBD2 port. Still not sure whether it will communicate with our cars though, too early to tell.

Thanks Guru. That gadget does look interesting. I've also seen other devices on ebay that also display dynamic data (which the PPC device might also do) as well as giving codes.
Have you used the PPC ? |

I haven't, but after reading about it on so many Volvo forums it seems like everyone that has one seems to be happy with it.
After all, it was built in Sweden especially for Volvo cars "2001-->2007" see also http://www.ppc-diagnostic.com/ for a list of all the DTC codes it can handle. Good luck.

A search on 'OBD2' bought this thread up......................
Okay. I too am thinking about one of these gadgets for my 96' 850, which has the OBD2 socket behind the coin tray. These ones seem to be for later models. I've had a quote for one from gsf & its £239 + vat! Seen some on fleabay for around £30 quid. There must be a major difference in a £30 one to a £239 one surely? Anyone have any experience of the cheaper units as no way can I press to £239 Thanks
