ETM Issue - Help and Advice required
Hello, just stumbled accross this forum for Volvo Owners and think it's great. I own an 2001 S60 and have been reading quite a lot about ETM issues reported by a number of owners.
Just had the throttle housing (is this the same as ETM??) changed by a Volvo dealer and would like to know if this could cause the seal on the fuel pump to fail? The dealer charged £400 to change the ETM, wants £500 to change the fuel pump and I still have an issue with the car going into limp home mode. Would to hear comments from owners. Manny |

ETM and Fuel pumps
Hi, The ETM is another term for throttle housing so that is what has been changed and you will be ok for a while.
The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank and could not be affected by changing the ETM. A common failing on S60, S80 and V70 at this age is a non return valve on the fuel pump reservoir. This causes the car to be unable to draw fuel when the car is parked at or below a quarter full and facing slightly down hill. One of my 4 family cars is a 2002 S60 TS and it has that fault. We always keep it above one third full to avoid it failing as it has twice so far. The cost of replacing the pump through my specialist is around £300 using a genuine pump and new seal. If your car goes into limp mode it will store on OBD fault code and your dealer or specialist can read this to find out what is wrong. |
