Default C30 - Help with valuation please

I'm considering selling my c30. A quick web search reveals quite a range of prices and it's left me unsure as to what I might expect.

Mine's a 2008 SE D model. Around 68k miles, FSH and in top condition (no bumps or bruises) AC, leather seats, heated seats. DPF filter changed at 55k, cam belt and water pump at 60k. A really clean, well looked after vehicle.

The 'buy any car' type places vary around £2000. Here in France, I'd get maybe £2200 (RHD in a LDH country) Strikes me it's a lot of car for not a lot of money. In short, I'd rather hang on to it for that.

What's the UK market like? I'd imagine COVID is having an impact on people's needs and priorities.

I would imagine the demand for sub-£3k cars might increase soon and prices stabilise or even rise a bit? you could do better selling it over here but will be a PITA with travel costs and re-registering etc.

Have you looked on the UK Autotrader website for a guide? obvs the RHD thing will hit your price hard over there.

I've always noticed the price of C30's to be quite 'cheap' given it should be a premium and popular/trendy model. Also it must be noted that a 2008 car is 13 years old this year so prices will reflect this unfortunately. If you're happy with the car this would be a good time to keep it for longer.

We're currently looking for a 5-year old replacement family car and it's a minefield, prices for "quality" brands like Merc/BMW are shocking...so expensive it's ridiculous. I don't know what's happened other than the fact that new cars just are very expensive which translates to expensive used prices.

Another popular thing for buyers is the attraction of cheap-looking Lease deals and PCP finance on brand-new cars, maybe the demand for 10+ year cars has fallen off?

Thank you for your reply Welton. Much useful advice/comments there.

I think I'm going to be keeping it a while longer, maybe look again towards the end of the year. The wife's Renault Scenic packed up yesterday (power steering failure) so the C30 will be seeing more use in the short term.

Reregistering in the UK is no real barrier and I'd kinda like a 'swan song' journey back! I anticipated there to be no real market for a RHD in France (not unless it's a prestige, classic or otherwise sort after car) but I didn't expect the UK market to be quite so flat. Maybe it is, as you say, the rise of these personal finance/lease deals etc. My naivety doesn't help either!

Edit: UK Autotrader values it at £2495 for a private sale, so a little better.

Have you tried advertising it on the 'English' platforms- AngloInfo, The Connexion etc. I know when I lived in France expat Brits would happily travel miles for a RHD motor. Especially a C30!
