Would anyone mind casting eye over this spec? Want to buy used XC90 , we only do about 3K miles a year so no need for low mileage. Will be cash buyers and part exchanging 2002 Peaguet 307 worth approx £1k.
Do you know of any services due around this time or any issues/pitfalls to be aware of? Any concerns with this model? What would you hope to pay?

3 obvious points , very close to a cam belt service and also make sure the 4 wheel drive is actualy driving the rear wheels . a quick test , get under the car with the parking brake on and see if you can turn the propshaft by hand , you should NOT be able to ...
Thirdly the parking brake , make sure it holds and slows you properly if not new rear discs and parking brake shoes needed ...

you will most definately need to get the cambelt done, it would be worth asking if it has already been done it is very likely that it has.

Officially the cambelt service will have to be done next year (duration) or when it has done 96k miles. But a lot of people get it done earlier. I got mine done recently at 60k for peace of mind after hearing a lot of horror stories.

The cambelt was full of cracks. Saying that the cambelt service on an XC90 is cheaper than I expected. I would offer £8500. I think £8900 is reasonable too but it is a buyers market right now. Are you getting this from a garage or private? If it comes with some sort of warranty too that would be good.

cracks on the outer surface of a cambelt are completely normal , they develope long long before it is anywhere near due for change .

my cambelt failed at 79000, expensive worth you taking out some warranty otherwise excellent cars, selling mine shortly as not using it enough due to my work commitments

unfortunately mine is in pristine condition and has a rear entertainment system and hard drive player with a relocated phono inputs
