Default Thanks to the 'staff' on the stand at the NEC

For showing your club up completely.

Just thought some of your members might like to read this

Mrs Mas usually drives our T5 estate and loves it , she is a frequenter of forums ( like me) but stopped using the Volvo Owners Club Forum quietly a while back after having had someone quite rudely tell her that her car was good for scrap. Being as it's a lovely R reg T5 estate with only 119,000 miles previously described by HLM Tuning as " runs like a swiss watch" she was quite miffed at his snobbery but no problem off she went.

Anyway today at the NEC Classic, no hard feelings not the clubs fault afterall Mrs M goes up to a grey haired man pushing 60 ( so should have developed manners by now) on the Volvo Owners Club stand and says attempting to strike up a conversation as you do -

" I'm well disapointed that there are no T5's here , why not ? "
to which he replies totally serious faced
" Well they attract the wrong sort don't they " ,
Mrs M says " what sort do you mean "
he replies " hoodies and holigans " .
Mrs M says " do I look like a hoody or a hooligan " and to her credit
( I wouldnt have) just walks off.

Just for your info Mr if you're reading I am a 44 year old civil servant and Mrs M is a Loss adjuster in her 40's with 2 children. She was not impressed and you sounded like a fool . Bravo what a credit to your club you are.

Cheers

Great image for Volvo eh?? Hard enough trying to get this Marque (sp) noticed by a younger sensible generation with out prats coming out with comments like that to total strangers.

So am I to assume that because I drive a modified T-5, that I am one of these 'hoodies' or 'hooligans'?

And seeing as I'm 'only' 25 I presume that seals my fate?

Who ever you are, wind your neck in...

Of all the people I've seen driving T-5s, I can honestly say, I don't think I've ever seen an oik behind the wheel. Apart from people on here, the only other people I know who have owned them, are one of my school friends, who was a retail manager at the time, and couldn't be far more removed from such a group, and is one of the nicest, most concienscious (sp?) people you could ever meet, and the other was a friend's dad, who owned it to tow a caravan with, and it was garaged its whole life and never went above 3000rpm.

Real hooligans they are...

That does seem a very strange attitude to have, and pretty inappropriate for someone representing a club at a show, especially given as the 850 turned Volvo's reputation massively!

I am sure last year a 850 R was on the stand, Bob has a T5 and I think he has a fair amount to do with the stand.

This is truly shocking, Instead of attracting new members this issue will put people off the VOC.

Indeed I think this needs clarifying. I can't imagine any of the VOC staff on the stand this weekend would have behaved in this way.

I have already posted my disappointed and views regarding this years show, however I too met with unhelpful comments, I made a enquiry for information on a 122s I am in the process of restoring, the person I spoke with wearing a blue VOC sweater and sitting behind a pedistal (I can only presume a VOC rep), was not very helpfull. Apparently the person I needed to speak with was not there and was not likely to attend, other than this initial information this person seemed totally un interested.
I cannot believe that this womans account of events is being called into question, I am totally discusted
