Default Amazon Front Seats

I have recently bought a rather nice 1966 Amazon 131 which has tan trim. The original seats do not have head restraints.
Did later Amazons have seats with head rests or will 144 seats fit straight in to the Amazon mounting points ?
Does anyone have any or am I likely to be wasting my time ?

Thanks

Stuart

In my opinion the headrests were an option for the later models.
But smaller headrests from a 140 series will go in the seats from the Amazon.
You will have to weld the pipes to the frame or use clamps to fit them.
I did it on my 1966 122S.
Otherwise you can fit the original too, without modifications in any Amazon seat with artificial leather upholstery. But they are rare and more expensive.
If you can't source them in the UK, you might try to get them in Holland.

www.volvobeurs.nl is an event on 21st and 22nd of oct in Utrecht where you will be able to buy them, as well as many other parts you might need.

All UK spec 131's were fitted with head rest as std. It is worth fitting them if you dont have them.

Some very usefull links there.

My 1970 131 did not have headrests on what I believe to be the original seats.

What I hated was the Betty Swollocks on a long summer trip so investigated a conversion to leather. Was quoted £1800 for a re-upholster of the existing seats.

Spotted a complete cream leather interior from an S40 on ebay, measured a neighbours car and reckoned they would fit and got the lot for £100.

Fronts went in easily with four new holes in the floor and a couple of brackets under the back end of the runners. Wired in the electrics for the drivers seat.

The back required a lot of cutting and trimming to fit but went in eventually.

The originals are in the loft in case a new owner wanted to refit them.

I reckon it looks pretty good and is much more comfortable.

I know the purists will not like it but it makes the car much more usable.

Brian, that looks good & goes well with the paint colour. BTW, are the electric front seats working?

Paul - Yes they do except that the seat controls lose the memory. I assume because I haven't a permanent feed to them.

As I don't let anyone else drive the car it doesn't bother me.

Those seats do look quite good. Do they fold forward properly to get into the back?

Your original seats in a 1970 definatly should have had head rest btw.

The passenger seat back rest folds forward but not quite as far as the original because the headrest comes into contact with the windscreen.

The driver's seat can be "motored" forward and the back rest raised to just past vertical. My three year old grandson can squeeze through, but won't be able to in a year or so! But behind my seat there in only leg room for a small child anyway!
