Default No Acceleration in 1st/2nd gear in V40 until warmed up

Hopefully you lovely people can help me.

I own a 2002 V40 Turbo Diesel. I had an issue with acceleration, so popped it into my local garage. Diesel filter was replaced, and then a new MAF (Haas make) The mechanic explained it may need to relearn its air intake, so was still running slow.

However it's still running like a mobility scooter in 1st and 2nd until it warms up. If I idle it for approx 15 minutes before driving it, it seems to accelerate fine.

I've read other posts about re-setting the ECU by disconnecting the battery, which I have done, however it has not solved the fault. I've also read something about limp mode ?

Any other suggestions on what is causing it gratefully received. I'm not technical when it comes to cars, so hopefully my description is enough for you to go on.

Some generic (fleaBay) meters won't function correctly hence the need to warm your current meter wire for 15 minutes beforehand. Sounds like a dodgy copy part to me.

With the ignition switched off try disconnecting the MAF, hang the connector to one side and take the car for a drive to see if it'll behave as per normal. This test will take the MAF out of the equation, the ECU will overfuel as it thinks the engine is cold, so your MPG will not be as expected.

Correct part is manufactured by Siemens - P/N 5WK9 632 (Genuine Volvo P/N 30887504).
