I went to have a look at this as it was localish (35 miles away) and in the main it was a reasonably solid car that had a fair amount of previous work done including a respray.

There was plenty of welding required although the wheel wells, rear arches and full length outer sills had been previously done to a good standard.

It did have a fair bit of rust in strange places such as the roof gutters etc which would have been tricky to repair to make a good car, but it could have quite easily been patched up to give someone a daily driver.

The guy couldn't get it running though and had never driven it on the road, but its a Volvo, I'm sure it would have been fine!

Fingers crossed we see it back on the road soon .....

The screen surround did look good, but the paintwork around it also told its own story of previous work. The screen looked to be the original though as like mine, it was cloudy in the corners! The top of the bulkhead had suffered where the rubber sits though.

Only one front wing was there, the other was stored elsewhere, but it was salvageable even though it had rotted around the indicator.

Doors did look good too, although they had the tell tale signs of red rust running out of the drain holes and I suspect they were not all steel at the bottom if you know what I mean! They were all de-laminated on the seams with rust bubbles so who knows what they would have been like it they were stripped back.

The bonnet too looks Ok in the pictures but the internal skin was heavily corroded on the front inner edge.

As said before, it would make a great daily driver and give many more years of service, but it would start to show its age badly if the rust wasn't caught very soon.

Whoever bought it has got a good early base to use for a rolling restoration though, lets just hope it see's the road again soon!
