Default Xc90 Mk1 anti roll bar bushes.

Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone has replaced their front (and maybe rear) anti roll bar bushes on their Mk1 xc90.

From what I have gathered on this site and others, the bushes are bonded to the bar and cannot be replaced. However, I don't see what would prevent me from cutting the bushes off the bar and fitting some new ones (provided I get the right diameter and dimensions) and then bolting them back down in their brackets, with maybe also some shaft collars either side to prevent the bar from slipping through the bushes.

Can anyone confirm if this is possible and has been done? Or am I being stupid and completely missing something that will hinder my ability to do this?

I haven't found any information about this other than people saying 'It cannot be done'. That isn't something I understand lol.

Hi,
I thought I had a problem with my bushes but turned out it was something else. I did research solutions and I found this write up which might be useful for you - the Energy brackets used seems to be produced in the US but are available in the UK but I could not find the specific one used for the XC90 in the UK (but note I abandoned my search when I discovered my bushes are fine).

Thank you very much for sharing that with me, it's just what I was looking for, I didn't know the bracket was designed that way. I'm going to attempt it now that I have that guide, I noticed when doing the wishbones that they're looking rather perished so hopefully replacing them will solve my phantom creak 😁

Your welcome.
I found the best way to determine if it's wishbone or roll bar related is to complete remove the wishbones and go for a drive. If the creaking goes away you got it otherwise it's coming from somewhere else.
The car will roll more but perfectly safe to do for a short low speed drive.
