I need to look at where the electronic controller is to find the part number and see if I can replace that next. The pump doesn't seem to be overworked as revving it doesn't make much difference - it seems the brain behind the steering is convinced to reduce the assistance thinking you are moving ...
Did you ever find the issue? . I have recently bought a R Design XC90 and I'm. Having the same issue. I will be going back to the dealship I purchased from and show them this thread so they can rule things out

I thank you so much for this knowledge, my steering at parking speed has been seriously heavy in the two years since purchase- 2008 d5 sport- took a punt on a £22 servotronic yellow box from Ebay- instant light steering. 3 flushes of CHF and it's like a new car. Thank you so much.

Can someone please supply a phot of where to locate this please. I'm certain I've speed sensitive steering on my 2010 r design. Had a new rack last year but steering is still so heavy that I have to be careful where I park. I'm a strong chap but hate the forces it puts on the steering when forcing it.

So, I've managed to locate the servotronic. It's covered in many numbers. Anyone able to tell me which one I need to be searching for?

.... Seems I can't upload a photo!

Default Servotronic

The servotronic is way up high behind the dash, held in a spring clip. i had to do serious body twisting fora 59 year old to find it. I first used an inspection mirror and torch. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124702686178. hope this helps. The number on mine was 30635823 btw. I just stuck this number in Ebay search.
