No electrics volvo S90 T8
Hi
Can anyone help Went to unlock my 6 month old S90 T8 to find all doors unlocked but mirrors still retracted. I opened boot using push under volvo letters on boot. It opened but would then not shut automatically. I finally shut it by manually closing it. Then found all electrics not working and car would not start. Hooked up my battery charger to charging lugs under bonnet. Charger went to max charge rate showing flat battery. A few minutes later charger going from fully.charging to charge complete then repeating this cycle over snd over again. Loud clicking noise from under bonnet. Alarm sounds and indicators flash then go off. This again repeats every few seconds. Since buying this car this is the third time I have had issues with locking unlocking and starting. Dealer said issue fixed but certainly not. VOLVO assist called still waiting for them at present. This is the most unreliable Volvo I have ever had and I have had many. I have no confidence in it at present which is a shame as I have A 60 year old Volvo which is 100% reliable. Any suggestion about cause of issue greatly appreciated. |

I considered saying it's because it's made in China, but I won't, because I have the same model. Sounds like you have a problem with the charging system which is not allowing the battery to charge. Surprised the dealer couldn't fix it first time - it must be throwing up error codes.

Thanks for the info most appreciated.
I have now read quite a few comments on this being a major problem with 2022 recharge models. In fact it would appear that in the USA that some owners are returning there cars as not fit for purpose. after continued flat battery issues leaving them stranded without warning. The causes put forward I read are the Volvo App draining the battery, Volvo downloads are draining the battery and that its something to do with the receiver in the sharks fin failing? I am a layman on these thinks so Cannot really comment other than its a major inconvenience for owners and warrants recall for all the models effected to sort it out. I have now deleted the Volvo App on my Mobile as this is recommended and to be fair I never use it. I will consider if possible? blocking any future direct download updates to the car from Volvo/Google. leaving it for the dealer to carry them out. In the hope it lessons the possibility of draining the battery. All in all not a good new car experience and I may break the habit of buying Volvos at my next purchase if its not sorted. |

I too have had 1 similar issue with 2023MY V60 T6. I also understand the issue to be as explained above....but....my vehicle had modified soft ware installed and problem has not re appeared. This and an inability to always get the hatch opening "kick" correct have been the only failing in almost 6 month ownership. The more I use it, the more I like this car.
Cheers Bob.
