Default V60 2013 dpf regeneration

Should there be a warning light, on the dash, (or message) on regen on the 2 litre diesel, five pot, motor ? 2013 vintage.

I noticed a drop in the average fuel consumption readout on the dashboard and the instantaneous fuel consumption readout dropped to around 22 to 35mpg when on light throttle..
Checked the obvious things like sticky brakes but everything seems normal...

No warning lights of any kind, or messages showing for any faults....as yet.!!
Drives and acceleration as normal.....
Constant throttle, fifth gear for 5 miles at 50mph and the average mpg dropped from 56 down to 54.1...no traffic interference...normally doing that run it goes the opposite way upto around 56 plus odds.

It does sound like the regeneration is happening.

Do you have stop/start? If so, it will also say s/s not available due to engine temperatures during a regen.

Thanks for that, yes there is stop start but it very rarely operates, I don't even bother turning it off !!!!
I just presumed there should be some warning message, or light, but nothing.

No , the regeneration works in the background and you should not even notice it. its very robust too.

I don't know if its the same on a 2013, but on mine you can go into the "Drive E" menu in My Car and see the reason for stop start being off. Electrical system is the normal one, engine system usually means a re-gen is in progress.

Ah, righto, thanks, I wouldn't have known something might have been happening if I hadn't noticed the slight drop in average mpg....I should just put some tape over that part of the dash

Not sure on that but will have a look see, cheers.
I think the battery might be on the way out as I occasionally get battery low warning if I sit in the car longer than 30 seconds after turning the engine off...although it's not slow to turnover when starting up.

MPG can change at any time for a multitude of other reasons too. Have you tried ECO tyre pressures that makes a noticeable difference to Average fuel consumption. ( If you have reset it recently of course)

Checked the drive e out...showing "battery charging" so no stop start...not sure if it must always be charging as the stop start rarely works...
In fact, the only time it has worked is when I have tried to use second gear from almost a standing start and it has stalled..as soon as I dip the clutch it fires up

Eco tyre pressures ???? Harder than normal ???

As it happens the average fuel consumption this morning has returned to normal under the exact same conditions as yesterday...Currently now running at 57.8mpg...
