Default PHEV Increased range

Volvo announced today that all of the PHEV's will be getting a larger range on battery (by increasing the battery size) only power from today forwards. I'm waiting for a call back from my dealer on my open order V60 T6, as i want to know will mine be an increased range one, or the old one. As I want the new increased range model. Anyone got an open order and confirmed if they will be getting the increased range or not?

So far i only have £500 down for the car to reserve it but i hope if it means cancelling and reordering i can get this back.

The website is updated to show the new range but the builder online and the price list has not been updated yet for the V60 to reflect any change to the range or price.

Cool. Have they given any indication of the size of the extra capacity?

‘Up to 68km’ (42 miles) for XC90

That is a very useful uplift, if realistic (and would lower the BIK too)

With the archaic charging system, that’s a slow charge up though, especially off 13amps!

I understand it is 11.6kwh to 18.8 in terms of battery capacity/size

455hp combined for new T8…new 145hp electric motor.

That will be quite a transformation.

Oh well…only 30 months of the lease left on my MY21.5!! 🤣

It' a bit of a bummer, but not a major hassle with a petrol engine on board as well. Its not as if people need to stop mid journey to refill the electrons.

I have an XC60 T8 on order due November, the extra range would mean that I can get to work and back on a charge. Plus I’m sure the 50% increase in rear drive power would make a difference. Just messaged my dealer, I’ve a horrible feeling I’m going to have to choose between a November car or the upgrade next year.

V90's range will go up to 87km or 54miles. Nice upgrade! My current V90 lease ends in April 2022, so can't wait to get a new one!

This is what I would have loved - more power & range for the electric motor. Not so fussed about the petrol - and a T7 say with the turbo only would be fine for an XC90!
I've had our car less than a week and want the new one haha That's how they keep selling cars I guess - suckers like me!
It perhaps means the XC90 might last a little longer - more like 2023 replacement??

It would be interesting to see what impact using the full 145hp would be on the battery depletion rate. Driving using full “power” (87hp!!!) to maintain motorway cruising speeds in pure now does use up the electrons pretty fast, I wonder how that balances with the larger battery and easier cruise potential.

Also, in the winter the battery will have to provide preheat, full cabin and battery conditioning heat since they’ve deleted the fuel preheater. That will be quite a high battery drain.

Overall it should make for a more useable PHEV undoubtedly and it’s just luck of the drawer if you get the upgrades you want or downgrades you don’t if you are tied to a vehicle replacement cycle. For us though our daily commute fits pretty perfectly into two charges per day with the current 11kwh battery, so practically, the difference might not have changed much had this been brought in with MY21.5 (tax aside £)

I think that COVID will have substantially delayed SPA2 XC90 mk iii - I’m not expecting there will be that many delivered and on the roads in the Uk when our current one goes back in Jan ‘24.

Hopefully just enough to have ironed out the first batch of software bugs!!

Result for those that dropped lucky in the refresh cycle. Looking forward to first feedback from those with experience of the outgoing T8 power train.
