850R manual for sale
Up for sale is my Red 850R estate with manual conversion,
The car is very tidy but it's by no means perfect with slight rust bubbling on front wings and tailgate. It's fairly modified with the following upgrades- 18t turbo with angle flange Ferrita downpipe with sports cat Ferrita exhaust Big Bosch injectors DO88 intercooler DO88 rip kit Manual conversion with new clutch kit 302mm front brakes All rebuilt calipers New discs and pads New handbrake cables, shoes and fitting kit Completely rebuilt rear delta link axle which has been powder coated Bilstein B6 shocks all round with Eibach springs All new engine mounts New radiator with new expansion tank and hoses New thermostat New fuel tank straps Almost new Goodyear eagle asymmetric tyres. New HT leads, Bosch dizzy cap and rotor. Probably more... Now the car has developed an engine noise unfortunately and will need investigation obviously, I have spent an absolute fortune on the car but I have decided to let it go as I have another 850R and a V70R. Pricing this at £5950 but I'm open to offers. For some reason I can't upload photos but I will try. Any questions fire away... |

Moment of reflection
Your asking £5k for an 850R factory auto, with manual conversion, a load of modifications and a knocking engine. And it's got the less desirable light nordic interior.
It was never going to fly out the door, and definitely not on this forum! Your options (in my opinion): . Do nothing ( but try to hold off venting your frustration in your own sales thread - it won't help garnering a sale) Or . List the car in another forum (for those who are not put off by the mechanical issues, mods &/or can see the value - its still a rare car with lots of Gucci bits bolted on) Or . Lower the price to encourage a quick sale (thus adding a bit of comfort to the new owner as they can budget to fix the car with the savings against the original asking price) OR . Take it back to factory condition and fix the engine. Then £5k as a fair price in the current market will see it sell quick enough. Four choices. You decide. Please take the above in the spirit it's meant - I'm trying to be helpful. It's a nice car, just not everyone's cup of tea -the lack of response to date speaks for itself- but GLWTS and I'm sure it'll change hands soon enough. All the best, Morgan |

I'd echo Shinsplintz 101. If in very good condition I think it would be an option for some but with the engine woes this will put off a lot of punters due to the unknowns.
If you could identify what's gone amiss that would allow folk to decide if its worth a punt. At the minute the money pit factor is large and will frighten a buyer |

Well the worst case scenario is put another engine in it or take it out for a rebuild. You would definitely think it's worth the money if you saw what's been done to it. Ok, it's not one for the purist (I have a completely standard one aswell) but it is a bargain for someone that wants a tuned one and is willing to fix it, you would spend far more buying a bog standard one needing a complete going over and then adding the mods than this is up for.
It will appeal to the right person for sure I disagree with 850R's only being worth 5k, most I see go for around 8k and climbing for a good one. So if you say 2 grand to fix it properly then it's actually very right on the money. |
