Was up for £7500 at the time if I remember.
Didn't buy because at that price a) cosmetically it didn't look the money and I knew it would be an uphill struggle to persuade the other half of the valuable work done under the covers and b) at the heart of it I really wanted to strip everything from the ground up myself and improve so I knew exactly what was done and how (as the car is a long term purchase).

Guy selling was genuine.

If you pm me your email address I'll send you what pics I have. They are a bit of a mixture. Back to when it was engineless @£300.
I guess I should send for the 40 pics to top up my archive. Have you sent for them?

Steady on there! It could still be a poor orthan prince with a unique opportunity in bitcoin to help him access his off-shore fotune who also happens to be looking for lovers of all things Swedish (but only in estate form of course)...

Hi Doug,

I'm always looking for interesting projects - bikes, cars and other machines. As you know, the RB is in a use and maintenance phase, and Delores just has a few little jobs outstanding (fortunately it turned out to be a very good car) - I'm just thinking...

Best wishes,

Alan

Many thanks all.

I received a load of photos from the seller today, and I am absolutely certain it is a genuine sale.

I'll mull lit over for a few days - but I can feel another project coming on :-)

Alan

Hi I also looked at this car when it was on Car&Classic in 2019 it has had a lot of new parts in the suspension dept but the bodywork is in need of major resto work with rust in many places apart from the usual inner wings rear lower panels I seem to recall the roof had a bit of rot along the gutter It wasn't a runner when I saw it it looked like some cowboy had been at it Having said all that its still worthy of consideration if your handy with a welder The owner told me he was moving to the USA it had been housed in a garage I think he spent over£7000on the running gear but he didn't seem the type of chap who would be doing any serious resto work but the car does exist but needs a full strip down and start again from the ground up

Thank you, that was very helpful indeed. I’ve done some research which points to the same conclusion.

Another forum member helped with this link which covers some previous history of this car - up to about 8 years ago:

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showp...9&postcount=84

The seller has also sent me a short email saying the car would need trailering away, so we may assume it is a non runner I think.

Piecing everything together it would seem that the project has run out of steam and the seller is trying to recoup some of his/her investment (and seems to have been doing so since about 2019). I do feel a bit sorry for the seller, it sounds like he/she embarked upon this venture in good faith (that was about 8 years ago) but has realised he/she will never finish it.

If this was a motorcycle we would call it a basket case. It would still have a value, but that would be due to the provenance of the vehicle. Unfortunately this car has almost no provenance, which I suppose just makes it a rough project. At £6,000 I’d have to say this car would make little sense: it would cost more than another £6,000 to put into good order, but quite good examples cost £9-12,000.

This car is not for me. I’m still keen on an Amazon, but it won’t be this one. It was certainly worth asking the question about this motor car - and may I thank forum members for being so helpful.

Best wishes,

Alan
