Default VIDA doesn't recognise V40 2017 VIN?

VIDA for some reason doesn't like daughter's 2017 V40 D2 (2.0L) VIN when I enter it manually. I can't get to the car currently to plug it in.

The VIN is [Removed at user request]. Can anyone with VIDA maybe try it & shed any light please? It errors with
The VIN can not be decoded on selected Partner Group. Please try to change to another Partner Group. I've tried it with all four groups but no joy.

I need the front driver's side spring part number which was a pain in the armpit with other daughter's V50 as I had to decode the build ID plate on the 'B' pillar. The plate on the V40 doesn't have the coding though so are the coil part numbers more straightforward with the V40?

*Just noticed that the model years for V40 2013+ only run to 2015 so perhaps my VIDA version is too old?

Thanks.

I don’t have VIDA but as I understand things it only covers vehicles up to 2013/14. After that you need a specialist or a Volvo dealer.

Thanks for that. You're correct - I was told this very thing 5 minutes ago.

The local Volvo parts dept won't tell me the part number (I get why) although they've priced it up. I want to look at decent aftermarket ones though so can anyone help with the part number please? VRM is [Removed at user request], VIN as above.

Thanks.

If all it is is a part number, most of the online parts suppliers let you enter your reg and show you compatible parts ?

As per Whyman, my understanding is that past a certain date Vida needs to connect online, and therefore a subscription is required to use it(££££).

Example store :

They will, and they do. However I recently learnt of the Build Plate on the V50 I was working on, which contains a long code which needed decoding to identify the correct spring part number in VIDA. See https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=319492 for interest.

Had I just gone ahead and ordered what the suppliers said were correct, I would have had big problems.

I'll throw a few other suggestions out there, that you may have considered, in the absence of some actual help from someone.
  • Phone up a few different dealers, you just need one of them to give you the part number.
  • Try a Volvo Indi, they may be more amenable to giving the info.
  • Try a Volvo Specialist parts place, they may be able to access the correct info.
  • Can you access the parts number for an earlier model year V40 same spec, I'd be kinda surprised if the parts changed later in the models life, but you're back to your original problem of risking the wrong part.

Hopefully someone will provide actual help.

Definitely good suggestions, thanks. I've been contemplating other dealers whilst narrowing down the exact spec for the this car, so I'll go that route now.🤞

Cheers.

My other thought would be to contact Volvo directly. I think they'll just point you at a dealer, but they may be able to give you the part number ?

Be worth the price of an email to ask.

I got it, thank the dog. The third dealer I called was completely sympathetic and let me have the part number. Thanks for the input.
