E10 Petrol
Hi, searching "E10" threw up no results so my guess is the search function is broken as I'm guessing this subject is quite hot at the moment.
Confusion over my 1999 V70 10v non turbo... Government website suggest that all cars after 1976 other than S/V 40 in 1990's can use E10, whilst other news reports seem to be saying anything after 2011.... I called Volvo this morning and they said it's safe, but advised adding fuel additives, which cost around the same amount as using "super unleaded" that could add around £7 to a tank fill up so no savings there ! Is this all sales talk, and I will be fine using E10 without additives ?

You're right, there are quite a few posts here about e10...
Used in my 98 v70 2.5 for a few weeks now doesn't seem to be any negative effects but really too early to say properly, had no trouble with starting or pinking etc. but as the octane rating is the same... As you say, super unleaded may be the way to go, it should be availabe for the next few years, BUT, I used a petrol station in Leominster and they don't stock it...only diesel & e10

Hi I have a 1998 s40 and have recently filled up with e10.I understand that this can cause damage to gaskets in the long run but to be honest it seems to run really well on e10.
I am new to the forum but i am looking for headlight units for my s40 and the fabric on my door cards is disintegrating . Is there a place on the forum to find advice on thse things please. ? |

Been using E10 for a few weeks now, noticed that mpg has gone from 30.5 to 28, average mpg, as shown on the trip computer, also notice a slight lack of power, especially uphill.
Think I'll be sticking to super unleaded from now

I've not used E10 in the C70 yet as I still have two kids paddling pools full of Ultimate.
I have, however put two full tanks through the V40. Previously the trip computer said I averaged 33mph and 32mpg - after the two tanks of E10 computer says: 32mph and 33mpg. Not much difference there and no difference in running or how the car drives.

Imo that's probably because, whilst they say it's RON95, it's actual value is probably nearer 93 on some brands. I only ever use Momentum 99 in my 70R and will stick with it until I scrap the car.
