Second car insurance
Can anyone point me towards or assist with second car insurance please? I have a daily driver car and many many years of no claims, however I understand that for a second car the insurance is treated totally separate and with very little or zero no claims which seems bonkers. Anyone got some helpful advice?

Thats correct, your NCB can only be applied to one policy.
I had the same issue when I first started running 2 vehicles - luckily my first 'second' vehicle was a classic landrover so its insurance was cheap even with 0 years NCB. If you've had a company car, then they sometimes will allow you some NCB against that policy, but you'll need to shop around to find the best deals - you'll find some 'multicar' policies are actually more expensive than two separate policies. If you're of a certain age, Saga (don't laugh) are very competitive for unmodified vehicles

I started with a multi car policy a few years ago and the insurer (LV) allowed me to put my full no-claims on the more costly to insure car. When I changed that one, they allowed me to swap it back to the original car. I’ve now built up 3yrs NCB on one and again flipped the full NCB when I changed another car.
For each year, the total cost was 10% lower than the best quotes combined. It certainly worked for me. Even year one with no NCB on a 15 yr old Jeep Cherokee 2.8CRD, it cost me a couple of quid over £200.

My C70 is on a classic agreed value policy and has been for the last 5 years. Only limitations are that it is a second car, limited mileage, usually garaged at home and not left on the street at night in London - I wonder why.

Most companies will give you a NCB discount on a second vehicle if you have full NCB on another. Phone the company that the first vehicle is insured with and I am confident they will be able to award NCB discount on a second.

It may be worth a chat with your current insurer. A few years back I bought a Lexus Soarer on a whim as a toy. At the time it was not old enough that anyone would grant a classic policy, but my main car insurer (Privilege, if memory serves) gave me 4 years NCB on a new standalone policy for that car, which made it quite reasonable.
