Default XC40 T5 Recharge Service Cost?

Hi,

My XC40 T5 Recharge is coming up to its 1st service in September. Any idea as to the average cost of a service for this ? In the past I have taken out a Volvo service plan (XC60) but didn't find it saved much - if anything.

Thanks

Steve

They are usually around £250 for a minor service and £400 for a major one. If your a VOC member you can get 20% off this cost from Marshalls and some other dealers.

In September 2021 I paid £294 for an 18,000 mile service at Volvo Gerrards Cross. In September 2022 I paid £666 for a 36,000 at the same garage. This included a brake fluid change.

I do get a software update and 12 months Volvo Roadside Assistance included in these services.

Now the car is coming up to another service and also its first MOT. Any advice as to whether I should continue to get Volvo to service it or go to an indy?

Can indy's do a software update and is it worth continuing with Volvo Roadside Assistance? I do use the Volvo app on my phone a lot and believe that I need to pay Volvo something to keep that active if I don't have Roadside Assistance.

TIA

Steve

A few independent volvo specialists can do the software updates, but your average decent all makes indy won't be able to.

The access to be able to download updates isn't cheap, and a specialist will pay the subscription for the marque in which they specialise, but your typical all makes garage won't be doing that because it wouldn't be financially viable to pay for software access for every brand that might roll into the workshop.
