Default Which stabiliser fits???

I have no idea which stabiliser will fit my 850t5r with a detachable tow bar. I have been given a caravan, and I have no idea apart from I am told I need one!!
I have been told it has the slot built in on the tow bar for the stabiliser will any fit?
I was looking to buy off ebay is this a good idea?
Thanks in advance Dan

Hi Dan, if it has the slot built in (about 25 x 10mm and a threaded hole for a lock bolt) you should have no problem. As for an e-bay buy, its always a gamble, to give you an idea check the Towsure website for prices.

Frankly, unless you the van is from Pickfords, or you drive like Carlos Fandango, a stabiliser is nice rather than necessary.

. . . and you ensure you load to give the correct nose weight!

i would change the tow hitch to a non detach easey if u are doing a lot of towing to replace the balls no pun ment
and at the same time when u buy the stabliser u can use the conector they supply in the box the atachment u need for urs is £70 then the stabaliser is £55
that is bulldog prices as i wont use any other

Nose weight should be 4-7% of towed weight provided you do not exceed tow hitch limit.

Better still invest in an ALKO coupling which just bolts onto the tow hitch in place of the original. Then ensure that the tow ball is thoroughly clean and dry when towing the caravan as the hitch contains friction pads which control any instability. I have had no worries at all with my '92 Lunar Clubman. Depending on MTW there are two or three models of the ALKO stabiliser hitch, get the one that suits you van's MTW.

All the best, Peter.

Just shows how much I know about caravaning the hitch has a ALKO coupling, went to towsure and asked what to buy stabiliser wise, only when pointing at the ALKO coupling I was told it was a stabilser.
LOL
