Question 940 LPT - Minor Tweaking Help Please.

I've recently bought a very tidy '97 940 2.3 LPT Estate and am delighted with it.......but in it's present stock state, all the boost seems to be at the bottom end of the rev range (which I guess is where it should be on a load lugger). However, I'd like to increase the response in 4th - 5th for overtaking.

I've read numerous really useful posts saying that a boost increase to, say, 9 -10 psi would be 'do-able' without getting involved in any serious modding. That being the case, I've decided to fit an MBC and decent vac / boost gauge.

Could anyone please tell me:

a) what are generally regarded to be the most popular / efficient makes of both items?

b) where is the best place to buy them with a rough guide to pricing? (EBay is littered with them, but they all look / sound similar.)

c) are the MBC's best fitted inside the cabin (g'box tunnel maybe), or, where the best place to mount in the engine-bay is ?

Any additional 'do's and dont's' and general advice would be very gratefully received.

Many thanks.

Some others will speak for where to get them, but mbc's and bosot gauges are all more of less alike. £30 at most for either.

Mbc's should be fitted as near to the turbo as you can, shorter hose's = less boost spike's

i run 12psi on mine with 97/98 petrol in her tank. Listen CAREFULLY for ping/knock/detonation...its like marbles in a tin can...set the mbc at 0 (usualy screwed all the way in) and slowly increase the amount of boost till your at what you want, 10psi with just 95 petrol is fine, you need more octane for boost over that.

Do a full service, oil, filters, plugs as well, always a good idea. er....oh and enjoy!

my MBC is opposite to yours, screwing the MBC in increases the tension on the spring/ball.(needs more pressure to open it and operate wastegate actuator)
they normally come "wound out" so you can wind them in to increase boost pressure.
