Hard Wire a dash-cam Volvo V40 R-Design
Hi Guys, I purchased a dashcam from Halfords and they cannot find a switched supply to piggy back the hard wire to, any suggestions? They say the 12v sockets are too difficult to access and they cannot find a switched fuse under the driver's seat or under the dash. Is there a spare switched fuse anywhere?

I used the cigarette lighter fuse (under the glove box) for my hardwired dashcam. I have a v70, but I would guess the fuse box will be in a similar position in your v40.
There's some good earth points if you remove the panel below the glovebox too. The cigarette sockets in the cabin are switched in my car, only the boot one is a perm live. |

Hi,
Volvo support seems to think there is one there, have you had a good dig around behind the glove box? http://support.volvocars.com/uk/cars...a801e80174efc4 Perhaps someone with a v40 could be more help but I would be very surprised if there isn't a fuse box on both sides of the bulkhead. |

Power for dash cam
All the fuse positions I tried are permanently live. The spare fuse positions do not have the connector clips in the holder so my piggy back fuse just falls out. Does any body know the wire colours for the 12v socket in the centre console? And where I can break into it?
Thanks, Tom |
