Default s60 towbar electrics

My apologies if this has been covered before, I've tried a forum search without success.
Has anyone experience of using a 'smart' bypass relay to connect a '52 S60 towbar sockets?
Taken at face value the smart system looks easy to install, without the hassle of having the dealers make a software change to configure the ECU. The kit I'm looking at also includes a unit for the caravan fridge and battery charging without the need to run seperate live and ignition controlled feeds.

There is no need for a dealer visit when installing the Volvo wiring kit to get it to work. The only advantage of getting this done is that it switches off the rear fog lamp when the caravan is connected to the car.
