Default Advice needed for getting/installing tow bar to 850 saloon

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a small caravan which I will need to tow with my Volvo 850 saloon. Its the 2.0 20v so should have enough power to pull a caravan.

I need some advice as to how much an electric tow bar would cost, where to get one, if I could install it myself and if so how easy is it to do?

Thanks everyone.

For Towbars, see eBay - around £100

When I had my 850 saloon I got one from towequipe and found it very good with all relays etc. In theory it can be fitted without removing the rear bumper, but I found it easier to remove it. The only extra parts you will need are 6 rivets that are inside the wheelarch, 3 each side, that secure the front of the bumper. The only minor issue was that towequipe only quote one towbar for both saloon and estate, so it sticks out a little more on the saloon.

I have one from my 850 estate which adjusts in or out to suit both.
