Default 1998 V40 Wiring........

Hi Guys,

I have just fitted a BRINK towbar to my 1998 1.8 V40. I will only be towing a motorcycle trailer and a trailer tent, so do not require the grey capped electrical socket, just the black one.
My question is, does anyone know the colours of the wires i need to connect the towbar wires upto?
I know what the towbar electric wires are for, but im unsure as to the Volvo wire colours. ie, brake, indicators, etc. I have no circuit tester to find out either.

Thanks in advance

Buy a test light, there only a fiver, then

pull the centre boot panel out pull the panels in at either side so you can access the rear lights and then test each wire in turn till you get a live for each circuit you want, ie brake lights,

You can wire most of it from the n/s (passenger side) n/s tail light and n/s indicater,

You need to access the o/s (drivers side) to get the o/s indicater and taillight,

There is a plug located on the n/s near the tail lights with one thick yellow wire and a thin one and a brown and black wire, the brown wire is the brake light, (don't wire it to back lights, bulb failure will throw a spaz) and foglight wire can be found in the wiring harness that runs along the back panel, see what colour it is in boot lid then find it in harness, earth should be on a bolt along back panel somewhere aswell
