Post 2012 Volvo c30 t5 ( owner said stuck by lighting

Hello I’m new to group, but here’s my issue. My dad is a mechanic and next to his shop there is a 2012 c30 t5 64,000 miles Just sitting and it has been sitting up for like a year or so. I talked to the man that brought the car to fix it up and sell it and he said.. he was told it was struck by lighting but, he also said it’s a problem with the computer to where the car won’t recognize the key. So they change the ignition and still wouldn’t start. My dad was messing with it the other day and they left a key in there. So my dad turn the ignition on he said everything came on but the engine or anything didn’t make a sound. I really am interested in buying this car. But don’t know if it’s fixable. If anyone has ran into this problem please help.
