Question V90 rear window not opening.

I can't remember the last time either of the rear door windows were opened on my 2017 V90 as the back seat is seldom occupied. However last weekend on a particularly warm day I sent them down to let some cooler air into the car via the switches on my driver's door.

Well, when I say 'them' only the offside window opened, the passenger side stayed put. I've tried the switch on the actual door and also the 'all windows opening' facility on the key fob, all to no avail.

Has anyone ever experienced this? I'm thinking it's possibly the door module at fault although the central locking still works on that door. Before I contact the dealer (or wait until the next service appointment) does anyone have a remedy suggestion?

Paul

You could try taking off the door panel to see if anything has become disconnected. Search YouTube for "volvo v90 door card removal rear door".
You need a door trim removal tool (I used a plastic spatula), a 7mm socket and a T25 torx bit to get it off.

Undo the door plug on the side of the door , look for a displaced male pin ... That was the cause in 2 cases like this over the last 20 years ... Maybe the glass is physically stuck in the runner due to not being used ? you would hear the motor try to free it when you pressed the switch though .

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread for anyone interested or has a similar fault with a SPA car. I had my V90 in for annual service today and advised the dealer of the non-operating rear window. It turned out to be the lift motor had failed, not the first one they'd done apparently, and was covered under the extended warranty I took out for peace of mind.

A good reminder to 'exercise' the motors in doors and mirrors. And the pump to rear washer.
