Default Dynaudio Dropped in MY2011 XC90

My dealer has confirmed from a Volvo memo that Dynaudio has been dropped in the MY2011 spec XC90 for something Volvo is calling ‘Premium Sound System’.

Anyone else had the same confirmation and or heard any more details on what this new unknown replacement ‘Premium Sound System’ is all about, e.g. what make of premium speakers Volvo is now using?

Harman Kardan are the ones replacing the Dynaudio , but its the amplifier that made it what it was 960 watts RMS ( In the C 70 anyway ) ...

Harman Kardon better that dynaudio? And is it really worth the extra £1,000?

I´ve heard that the system will be changed in the XC60 also, so we are getting the Harman/Kardon now... great...

The Harman/Kardon system I heard in a MB ML was crap, so I hope they tune this one right! I just love the Dynaudio in the volvo, everything is just right!

Let´s hope that they don´t ditch the external subwoofer I ordered in the trunk also...

In general from a home-audio point of view, I'd say Harman Kardon is very good and very much into amplifiers and the likes, but not as good as Dynaudio in speakers.

Also, HK has had a go at cheapo stuff (e.g. computerspeakers, possibly even rebranded China-crap), so they have somewhat let go of their premium brand name. Not wise in my view, but who am I to criticize...

This by no means will mean that it will be crap!!! Caraudio is VERY difficult to do properly, so a badly installed Dynaudio system will loose to a properly installed Sony system...
But I'll still be installing my Dynaudio (homespeaker-drivers...) in my V70 once I get some time to work on it...

Just my 2ct

Just read this about the new S60:

The audio experience in the all-new S60 has been enhanced compared with previous models. "Our most advanced system, Premium Sound, has a class-D digital 5x130W amplifier with circuits from Sweden's Anaview, Dolby Digital in combination with Dolby Pro Logic II Surround, the award-winning MultEQ from Audyssey Laboratories and 12 loudspeakers. All this creates an audio experience of absolute world class," says Tomas Ahlborg. The Volvo S60 is one of the first car models in the world to use Audyssey Laboratories MultEQ technology, the standard for room equalization in the home and professional theatre markets. MultEQ removes distortion caused by the car cabin's acoustics enabling crisp, clear sound with improved soundstage for everyone in the car.

Maybe this will be a option on the XC60/90 also?
