Default Hi to everybody

Hi, this is my first post in this forum, l wold like to apologise before hand for my spelling for now and in the future , hope to become a better writer, but english is not my first language and l'm a bit a woodhead, any correction will be appreciate. Tank you.
Now my question, l'm looking for buy a 900 serie turbodiesel 1995 onwords, l have a 1990 760 turbo estate and i was going to put lpg on it but calculator on the hand seem is not worth the expence because to retrieve the money back take quite a long time, plus the car is not really worth and up to it, so l'm looking for somenthing to buy and save on fuel straight away and I'm thinking to go diesel ,now about the diesel one, there is anybody can give a little help about how these cars behave, fuel consumption, services ecc. and of course if somebody is going to sell one of these can please let me know.
Many thanks

I am not selling mine mate! However I have two and one in bits. I run a 945 ('96 MY) and have a 944 ('92 MY) both intercooled turbodiesels. The one in bits was a 760GLE (saloon) turbodiesel (with intercooler). The later models from '93 onwards had the better engine as they had hydraulic tappets revised swirl chambers and a seperate tensioner for the cambelt. The only advice I can give is for you to keep an everwatchful eye on the bargain pages, Autotrader and eBay as one will eventually turn up that is worth your interest. Generally speaking they are as rare as rocking horse poo and there areb a few old dogs about. There are about 150 of them on the 700 and 900 registers which is a fair percentage of registered vehicles. Most are owned by doting owners who are proud of the longevity, sheer pulling power and even tuneability of these sought after Volvo models. OK so the engine is made by VW/Audi, but they got around 225 bhp from this engine by the time they had finished seeing how far it would go. Mine is aproaching the 180-200 bhp bracket with the mods I have done and the torque is quite amazing. When towing the caravan I find it hard to keep down to 60 mph on Motorways. I love my diesel and would not consider another petrol engined car. I don't know where you live but if it is in South Wales then drop over and see me and you can see what I mean.

All the best, Peter.

Don't know much about the diesel engines I'm afraid, but just wanted to say Hi :)

Its nice to see some fellow Welshmen here - I'm a Swansea born nomad, currently living in Yorkshire. If I could get a job in Swansea or Cardiff I'd return tomorrow!

Good luck with your hunt.

All the best,

Sam
