rcpilot, I am quite aware how DPFs work. Forced regens are static (better) equivalent of what you are saying. Problem didn't resolve. Problem was most likely just with the pressure differential sensor.

GrantA, The only reason I updated this thread is because I thought post 8 might of use. I have read previous DPF threads but not read a report before...

No Eolys needed on the V70 2.0D ............ its a dry DPF.

Well done with the DPF & Sensor change, reasonable at the prices quoted and not a too bad job to do.

Being 'old school' I would have probably gone down the sensor road first !

My V70 2.0D is on 97K now with no real issues.

I agree and also disagree with you Moondust70.

The older 4 cylinder 2.0D cars are the Ford PSA diesel which uses Eolys, but the newer 5 cylinder 2.0D engines are the modified D5 engines which has a dry DPF. The 5 cylinder model came in around May 2010

Volvo's own literature says "This additive, Eolys, is currently used on Volvo's 1.6 and some 2.0 diesel engines where a DPF is fitted"

I have a 2009 S80 4 cylinder 2.0D car with a Ford PSA diesel engine that does not use Eolys.

As you will see in your quoted section Volvo say 'some 2.0 diesel engines' The 2.0D engines fitted to S40/V50 use Eolys but not those fitted to most S80/V70.

The V70 2.0D PSA engine since its introduction in 2007 has NOT ever used Eolys.

I should have said it is a 'coated' DPF rather than a 'dry' DPF.

If you check the volvo service requirements you will see no mention of additive replacement, also check VIDA and see if you can find the Eolys tank !

The proof of the pudding is in the eating ...........mine is a 2009 with almost 100k on it ............NO EOLYS
